Review

I think my presentation on flash turned out rather well. I am happy with the layout and the overall appearance off my app. For example when I first started using flash I used the template which we was provided with however I didn't like how plane the template was and that most people was using the template. I wanted to make my presentation unique and interesting which will hopeful helps show that my app isn't like others.  I want it to be unique and have its own style. The only negative thing that I noticed about not following the template is that I wasn't as skilled in the program that I wanted to be I didn't know how to fade or use motion tween as much as I wanted to. So before I created the presentation I decided to watch tutorials, get help and follow instructions and then have a mess about with all the different features on flash. After this I started to create my app probably.

I followed my story board which helped make it much easier. It helped me have an idea on what I had to do next and what I needed to complete the next section of the story board however I did make quite a lot of changes in my first story board. I personally think my presentation could be better by showing more of the app. If I could do this again I would improve on the appearance of the app for example make the fades etc. much smoother and a lot better quality however I do think I did well specially due to me not knowing much about the aspects of flash before I started but now I know a lot more than I did and know how easy and simple it is to do an simple fade in and out or even motion tween. So I do think that if I did the presentation all over again then it would be better.

Even though I would personally like to do some changes or do some more scenes during the presentation I do think that it has achieved the aim of the projected. I wanted the presentation to explain what the app does and what it is is like but I didn't want the presentation to be boring and full of text so I picked out what I thought was the most important but yet interesting features of the app. I did this by using effects on the text so it wasn't just the same thing over and over; I wanted it to be fun but serious presentation. Because even though achieve might be a serious app to help improve fitness and health it is also designed to be fun and bubbly but yet very helpful to the audience. This is why I wanted the presentation to be informative but yet interesting and fun to show that my app is the same way.

Presentation

Production

I first used the flash template to start the puppet master. However when I first started I decided to delete most scenes on the template and create my own scenes and effects on the animation etc.

On the first scene I kept the EGI logo for an introduction but I changed the background into a more grey and kept the background the same throughout the presentation. I thought this made the presentation more attractive and more presented.

The second scene I introduced my logo. I used motion tween to make my logo bounce in the center of the frame and bounce back out after a few seconds. Once the logo left the screen the first description fades in which is basically explaining what achieves is, this is on for a few frames and then it goes onto the next scene.

The third screen is what the app looks like on both phone and tablet. The phone then 'pushes' the tablet off the screen and makes the phone main attention. I did this by using flash motion. Once the phone is main attention a hand 'presses' the app which interacts the app and loads onto the logo screen. The logo fades in and out of the phone, after the menu appears.
The second description wipes in but in this description it is going into little bit more detail about the menu it exit's the screen by wiping off to the right.

The phone is main attention again. On the menu there is 5 different sections to give the audience a better idea on how the app would work I made the hand go and click the strength section of the menu which then the strength main menu appears.

After the app is described and examples of the app are shown I decided to make to show where this app might be available so I used app store and google play Logo's which faded in and out in the center of the screen. Afterwards the available date of the app appears. Finally it shows ways you can share the app which is on Facebook and twitter. On this scene I used the templates effect which was the twitter logo wiping in from the left side and the Facebook logo wiping in from the right side.

  1. Into- fade in and out
  2. Logo- bounces in and off
  3. Description -fade in and out (stars)
  4. Examples-iPhone iPad- iPad slides off. IPhone in centre
  5. Hand-touches the app-makes app interactive logo (menu)
  6. Description fades back on, taking the phone off the screen-slides off screen
  7. Hand carry’s on and clicks on strength
  8. App store
  9. Google play
  10. Available
  11. Twitter and Facebook

Pre-Production

Story board: Before I created my presentation for my app I wanted to be more organize and do a story board on what I wanted to design in the app.

Firstly I wanted to show examples of the phones that will be able to use achieve afterwards I thought it would be a good idea to make sure my app logo is presented to make it obvious that the presentation is about achieve and not a different app. After I created the main screen etc I wanted to make a bit of the app 'interactive' to give the audience a better perceptive on what the app might be like, I did this by getting a finger to click on one of the menu screens on the app. Afterwards I Put on the availability date and described the app. I think this was effective because the way I sequenced the app design helped the audience to visualize the app and think of how it is going to be made and animated

Asset list
Before I created the app presentation in flash I made an asset list. An asset list is things i need before i create the presentation for example images and information.
Logo: The first thing i decided to create was the logo for 'achieve'
I used an simple logo which helps the title to be more eye catching a bold.

Menu: I knew after my first few slides i wanted to show what achieves main menu would be like so i decided to design and create one. The menu has 5 different sections but in the presentation the main interactive screen is 'strength'. The layout of the menu is quite simple and I think its quite modem and glossy look.

Strength: In the presentation I wanted to give the audience an idea on how the app would work. I decided that the most effective way to do this was to help the audience visualize what some of the menu section would a pear as. After creating the menu I knew i wanted to follow the 'theme' which was simple but yet unique and some what modern.

Work experience-game evaluation

You are going to carry out FIVE in-depth game evaluations, using the supplied templates.

Each game you evaluate must be from a different genre. For example, action/adventure, FPS, strategy, RPG, simulator, puzzle etc. Try to choose a wide range of games to evaluate. This is not about what you like, but your skills in analysing games.

There must be at least three different types of platforms used in your evaluations. For example, console, handheld, PC, smartphone, tablet or arcade.

Ensure that you play each game for at least 45 minutes before starting your evaluation. You may have to return to the game to complete the paperwork and some games will require more gameplay that others.

Your findings must be methodically and carefully recorded. Be clear and concise with your language. You will need to take time to play the games, answer the questions and complete the supplied paperwork. Write notes first and then type up each evaluation. The template is available within the WRA Moodle course. Each of your five evaluations needs to be printed, signed and dated and submitted to me.

The evaluations you produce will be checked and signed off by Jordan Eastwood, formerly Lead QA Tester at Sony Corporation, Liverpool. The evaluation pack will be submitted with your WRA booklet for internal verification sampling.

Task 3-contemporary uses

Examples of 2D animation

Computer games:

Side scrolling:
A scrolling game or can also be known as a side scroller game is where the game angle is viewed from the side and the character in the screen will move left from right or vise versa to meet the objective or the finish point within the game.
Example: Sonic the hedgehog

Isometric:

"isometric" refers to a kind of parallel projection  this is where the viewpoint is rotated slightly to reveal other features of the game environment than are visible from a top-down perspective or side view. This gives the game a sort of three dimensional effect.
Example: Super Mario RPG
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9njyb3h26w

 Flash:

Flash games are interactive media created for online and mobile use. Flash was originally created as an animation program allowing  programmers and artists  to create interactive games using its proprietary Action Script code.Flash games range from action/adventure, role-playing, simulations, 2D side-scrollers, and puzzle games, to 3D first-person shooters and massive multiplayer (MMOs). There are tens of thousands of games available across the web which are supported by flash
Example: Cut the rope

Abstract:

An abstract strategy game is a strategy game that minimizes luck and does not rely on a theme. Almost all abstract strategy games will conform to the strictest definition of: a gameboard, card, or tile game in which there is no hidden information, no non-deterministic elements (such as shuffled cards or dice rolls), and (usually) two players or teams taking a finite number of alternating turns.
Example: Chess PS4 Online

Resonance - Anime Music Video (AMV)

In this video they have decided to take sections of different anime and put it all in one video for example some of the anime in this video is Enned while other parts is Kobato. In some sections you can really tell how anime does overall effect the video. For example in the sad bits of this music video the anime characters eye will sparkle as if it is crying. It is hard to capture that much emotion in an ordinary person.

The bird briefly flaps upward each time that the player taps the screen; if the screen is not tapped, the bird falls because of gravity.
